According to received information, the military personnel was travelling through Saravan in his private vehicle with his wife when they were targeted by unknown gunmen. He died at the scene or later from the severity of his injuries, while his wife was wounded.

Media outlets affiliated with the Iranian government have also claimed that the couple's child was inside the vehicle during the attack and was injured. These outlets described the attackers as "terrorist elements."
