Houtag Claims Another Victim: 10-Year-Old Baloch Child Dies in Chabahar
Shiwar News – Saturday, 27 June 2026: A Baloch child lost his life after drowning in a houtag (traditional water reservoir) in Mohammadzahi village, located in the Plan district of Chabahar County.
The victim has been identified as Hesameddin Abir, a 10-year-old boy, son of Sasan and a resident of Mohammadzahi village.
According to received reports, Hesameddin slipped and fell into the houtag. Unable to get out of the water, he drowned.
Houtags, which are widely used across many parts of Balochistan for water storage, have for years become a recurring cause of child fatalities due to the lack of safety measures, fencing, and proper infrastructure. These preventable incidents continue to claim lives and leave more families mourning each year.
