Shiwar News — On Thursday, 22 Mordad 1405, new information received by Shiwar News from sources close to the family of Azita Rahmatzehi, whose official name was Soheila Rahmatzehi, a 24-year-old woman from Chabahar, indicates that contrary to the initial account alleging the involvement of one of her husband’s relatives in the killing, Soheila was severely beaten by her husband, Abdullah Narmanshiri, and then shot dead.
Soheila lived in the Doshanbeh Bazaar area of Kamb, Chabahar. She was a university student and worked at a pharmacy in the city. According to sources close to her family, she was a calm and kind young woman.
According to information received by Shiwar News, Abdullah Narmanshiri had been married once before his marriage to Soheila and had five children from his previous marriage. Soheila’s family had agreed to the marriage because of the man’s good financial situation, but Soheila herself did not consent to the match.
According to informed sources, even after the engagement, Soheila told her family that Abdullah did not have a good character and that she did not want to marry him. However, her family opposed ending the engagement, citing family “honour” and concerns about how relatives and the wider community would view them. Sources say that because Abdullah appeared respectable, Soheila’s warnings were not taken seriously.
Soheila eventually married Abdullah Narmanshiri, and according to sources, after the wedding her husband did not allow her to return to her job at the pharmacy or continue her university studies.
Only 12 days after their wedding, Soheila was severely beaten. According to sources close to the family, her injuries were so serious that her neck, a vertebra in her lower back, and her fingers were broken. She was then shot from behind in the lower back and died, while traces of her wedding henna were still visible on her hands.
The initial report received by Shiwar News about the killing stated that one of Soheila’s husband’s relatives had entered the home, assaulted her, shot her dead, and fled the scene.
However, new information and further inquiries obtained by Shiwar News contradict that account. Informed sources say that after the killing, Abdullah Narmanshiri attempted to distance himself from responsibility by claiming that one of his relatives had committed the murder.
