Shiwar News – Monday, 12 October 2026: The death sentence of Habibollah Ghanbarzehi Farjad, a 38-year-old Baloch prisoner previously convicted on drug-related charges, was carried out at Kerman Prison. His execution brought the number of Baloch prisoners executed at the prison that day to two.
The prisoner was identified as Habibollah Ghanbarzehi Farjad, son of Allahdad, a 38-year-old married father from Zahedan. His identity had previously been confirmed and reported by Rasank.
According to reports received, his family went to Kerman Prison at approximately 10 p.m. on Sunday, 11 October, after prison authorities contacted them to arrange a final visit. They were able to see him for the last time before his execution.
Habibollah was arrested in Kerman in November 2023 while working as a driver. He was accused of drug-related offences and subsequently sentenced to death following judicial proceedings.
According to informed sources, the drugs discovered did not belong to him. Nevertheless, the Iranian judiciary issued and carried out his death sentence.
Before the execution, Habibollah's mother and sister released audio messages appealing for the sentence not to be carried out and calling for his life to be spared.
Mai Sato, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, had also reportedly expressed concern over the imminent execution of the Baloch prisoner.
Habibollah was the only son in his family and its main breadwinner. His execution leaves his family facing not only the grief of losing him but also significant financial and social difficulties.
Another Baloch prisoner, identified as 33-year-old Amin Khajeh-Nezami, was also executed at Kerman Prison on Monday, 12 October 2026. His identity had previously been established.
