Shiwar News – Four years have passed since 30 September 2022, known as Zahedan's Bloody Friday, when government forces opened fire on Baloch civilians and worshippers during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” protests.
According to documented information, approximately 100 people were killed and more than 350 injured within just a few hours. Sixteen of those killed were children. Some of the injured suffered severe eye injuries, amputations and spinal cord damage. Four years later, dozens of survivors continue to live with the physical and psychological consequences of their injuries.
But Bloody Friday did not end for Balochistan on 30 September. Families of those killed have faced pressure, threats and harassment in their pursuit of justice, while accountability for those responsible for the killings remains unresolved.
At the same time, reports of human rights violations, shootings, and Baloch civilians, including children, being killed or injured continue to emerge. Many of these incidents receive little widespread media attention.
The fourth anniversary of Bloody Friday is not merely a remembrance of a day of bloodshed. It is also a reminder of the responsibility to remember the victims, to prevent the suffering of Balochistan from being marginalised, and to continue documentation and the pursuit of justice.
Four years have passed, but Zahedan's Bloody Friday is not yet over.
We neither forget nor forgive.
