23-Year-Old Baloch Man Sentenced to Death Following Alleged Torture-Induced Confessions in Zahedan

Shiwar News – Thursday, 29 October 2026

A Baloch man arrested in Iranshahr County by members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organisation has reportedly been sentenced to death on charges of “membership in groups opposed to the Islamic Republic”. According to sources, confessions attributed to him were obtained through severe physical and psychological torture. His life is now at risk following the reported death sentence.

The individual has been identified as Amin Perdal, 23, son of Rasoulbakhsh, from Aliabad village in Iranshahr County.

According to information received by Shiwar News, Perdal was arrested on 4 April 2026 (15 Farvardin 1405) while visiting a relative's home in Aliabad village.

Sources reported that after members of a nearby Basij base complained about loud music, several Basij personnel approached the house. Perdal stepped outside to speak with them but subsequently disappeared. His family had no information about his whereabouts or fate for approximately one week.

After repeated enquiries, his family learned that he had been arrested by IRGC intelligence personnel on accusations of membership in groups opposed to the Islamic Republic and transferred to Zahedan.

According to sources, Perdal's family was able to visit him after nearly two months without contact. During the visit, they reportedly observed bruises and signs of torture on his body.

Sources further alleged that during detention, Perdal was subjected to severe physical and psychological torture and pressure to accept accusations including membership in groups opposed to the Islamic Republic and involvement in the killing of Mahmoud Haghighat, commander of the police outpost in the Shahrderaz area of Iranshahr.

Mahmoud Haghighat had previously been killed in an attack attributed to members of the Popular Fighters Front.

Amin Perdal's family has rejected the accusations against him, insisting that he was working as a tailor at his place of residence at the time of the incident in question.

To support this account, the family has collected written testimonies from religious scholars, community elders and respected local figures.

Perdal's relatives have described him as a quiet, hardworking young man who earned his living through tailoring before his arrest. His family faces serious financial difficulties, and his father works as a labourer.

The death sentence against the young Baloch man has been reported amid allegations that his confessions were extracted under torture and that his family disputes the accusations.

So far, no details have been made public concerning the judicial proceedings, the evidence presented in court, his access to legal representation or the possibility of appealing the sentence.

Under international human rights standards, confessions obtained through torture are inadmissible as evidence. Using such confessions to impose a death sentence raises serious concerns about violations of the right to a fair trial and the right to life.

Given the reported death sentence and allegations of torture, concerns have intensified over Amin Perdal's situation and the risk that his sentence may be carried out.
