Abdolrahman Dorostaran, a 30-year-old Baloch man and brother of executed prisoner Omar Dorostaran, was arrested on 12 October 2026 (20 Mehr 1405), the same day his brother's death sentence was carried out, at the Ahmadabad checkpoint on the road from Rask to Iranshahr by personnel of Iran's Ministry of Intelligence.
Twenty-one days after his arrest, he reportedly remains in a security detention facility in Zahedan.
The detainee has been identified as Abdolrahman Dorostaran, 30, son of Abdolqader, from Firuzabad in Rask County, and the brother of Omar Dorostaran, who was executed.
According to informed sources, after learning of his brother's execution on 12 October, Abdolrahman intended to travel to Zahedan Prison to follow up on the matter. However, he was detained by Ministry of Intelligence personnel at the Ahmadabad checkpoint, located on the road leaving Rask towards Iranshahr, and transferred to an undisclosed location.
Informed sources stated that before his brother's execution, Abdolrahman had been subjected to pressure by members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organisation and threatened in an attempt to force him to cooperate with the agency.
According to these sources, security personnel had attempted to secure his cooperation by promising a reduction in his brother's punishment.
Based on information received by Shiwar News, Abdolrahman has been held in a security detention facility in Zahedan since his arrest. Despite repeated efforts by his family, he has reportedly been denied visits, contact with relatives and access to a lawyer.
Informed sources further emphasised that Abdolrahman had not engaged in any political or security-related activities and that no specific charges against him had been communicated to his family.
According to these sources, there are serious concerns that his continued detention and deprivation of basic rights may be intended to pressure him into cooperating with security agencies.
Abdolrahman Dorostaran's continued detention without the disclosure of specific charges, together with the denial of family contact and access to legal counsel, has heightened concerns about his health and safety and the possibility of further pressure being exerted on him while in custody.
